Public School 22

Ever wonder the identity of the kids featured in a couple songs on Passion Pit’s album, Manners? I probably did, but never enough to go home and look it up. Luckily I stumbled upon a Youtube video recently of the PS22 Chorus…the same kids! It’s a group of fifth graders from Public School 22 in Staten Island, and they are incredible. The chorus changes every year as old 5th graders graduate and new ones move up. Their director, Gregg Breinberg picks most of the songs for them..everything from classic choral pieces to Lady Gaga. They have gained quite a bit of fame, and for good reason! When I started watching some of their videos, I was in complete awe. The kids get so into the music, closing their eyes and swaying and using gestures while singing. It’s very obvious that Gregg Breinberg absolutely loves his job and his students. Watch some of their videos at the Youtube account agreggofsociety and I dare you to tell me you don’t love them too.
